Sick Children's trust big chocolate tea party

The Sick Children?s Trust are calling upon people in the UK to join their third annual Big Chocolate Tea Party this April and raise thousands of pounds for families in need by enjoying their favourite chocolate treat with a cup of tea.

The Sick Children?s Trust help families by providing seven ?Homes from Home? at major hospitals around the country where families can stay free of charge, for as long as they need whilst their child is undergoing treatment. The Sick Children?s Trust was founded in 1982 by two paediatric specialists, Dr Jon Pritchard and Professor James Malpas, who believed that having parents on hand during hospital treatment benefited a child?s recovery. In the last 30 years The Sick Children?s Trust has supported more than 40,000 families

Big Chocolate Tea Parties will be hosted around the country by the public during April. On Sunday 1 April 2012 there will be a Big Chocolate Tea Party with Edd Kimber ?The Boy Who Bakes? including fun chocolaty arts and crafts ? ?from 11am-11.45am at South Bank Centre in London.

Edd says: ?This event is just my cup of tea. It?s a quintessentially British tea party with a chocolate twist. And as a chocoholic myself, I?m delighted to be involved. It?s a lovely campaign and a great way for everyone to help families of sick children when they need support the most.?

Hussain Kour is staying at The Sick Children?s Trust Rainbow House, with his wife and his daughters Yasmina and Soraya, whilst his son, Samir, six weeks old, is being treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

?We do not know what we would have done without the help of The Sick Children?s Trust. We had to come to London from our home in Hastings at short notice when our son, Samir, was born with heart complications. With two young daughters under the age of five years old staying in a hotel wasn?t an option ? it would have been too expensive and unfair to keep the children in such a small environment.

?Thanks to The Sick Children?s Trust and Rainbow House we have been able to stay just round the corner from Great Ormond Street whilst Samir is being treated. Our other children love it here as it has such a warm, homely environment and it just means we can still have a family life and all be together at this difficult time.?
