In the years 2003-2008, the mortality rate for prostate cancer decreased by 48 %, 55 %, 52 %, 49 %, 41 % and 64 % , respectively. The researchers concluded that when the detection and treatment are available and free, mortality from prostate cancer screening reduces the effort of the population scale.The AUA believes that early detection and risk assessment for prostate cancer should be offered to asymptomatic men 40 years or older who have a life expectancy of 10 years.
