GAMING GRANTS INVEST $1.9 MILLION IN SASKATCHEWAN COMMUNITIES ...

The Government of Saskatchewan is providing more than 900 grants to volunteer organizations in communities across the province. The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) is distributing a total of approximately $1.9 million through charitable gaming grants.

?By giving their time to minor sports, helping to improve a community park or serving on a local fire department, volunteers help keep our communities strong and vibrant,? Minister responsible for SLGA Tim McMillan said. ?Our government is pleased to provide funding that will assist volunteer groups as they continue to provide these important services.?

Among the grants provided by SLGA, Humboldt and area received $39,185; Yorkton and area: $38,103; Estevan and area: $24,196; Nipawin and area: $22,917; Swift Current and area: $22,752 and Biggar and area: $14,169.

These quarterly grants are based on a percentage of net proceeds raised through licensed charitable gaming activities such as: bingos, raffles, breakopen tickets, Texas Hold?em poker and Monte Carlo events. Charitable gaming reports submitted by groups are used by SLGA to automatically calculate grants.
