James Marsh's 'Project Nim' Popular in Europe and Beyond (Cannes)

CANNES -- James Marsh's Project Nim?is proving popular in Europe and beyond with Le Pacte taking all rights for France and Sacher Distribuzione and Feltrinelli Editore securing all rights for Italy in deals struck by Icon Entertainment International.

Other Icon memos include Mongrel for Canada, Against Gravity for Poland, Lusomundo for Portugal, Odeon for Greece and Prime Pictures for the Middle East.

HBO and Roadside Attractions snapped up U.S. following its world debut at the Sundance Film Festival. Icon will distribute the film in the U.K., Ireland and Australia and New Zealand.

The film details the story of Nim, the chimpanzee who in the 1970s became the focus of a landmark experiment, which aimed to show that an ape could learn to communicate with language if raised and nurtured like a human child.
