Online Dating... it changes the landscape of the Dating Pond ...

Online Dating... it changes the landscape of the Dating Pond | Kissing Frogs in the Dating Pond

Online Dating Success

Online dating totally changes the landscape of the Dating Pond? communication and commitment have been outpaced with texting and social media. The drawback? romantic ties suddenly become easy to avoid ? yet harder to shake.

It is possible you have been out of the dating world for a decade or so and feel yourself unqualified to speak from personal experience. ?Does that not, however, make you genuinely curious about just how technology has changed the flavor of courtship? ?Being continually confronted with recent headlines, book titles, and radio show topics, there is no question that texting and social media make it more difficult to make commitments, but also makes it more difficult to make the break with a bad connection. Texting or tweeting is grand fun! ?It keep flirting casual and protects you somewhat from feeling rejected. However, it also opens the door for a rather lingering ambiguity over just what the status of your relationship really is.

At the end of the day, there is less of a focus on commitment, but? it can also make you feel like there is never really an end to a relationship ? even if that is what you really want to have happen. ?You can see further evidence of this fact in ?New York Magazine article by?Maureen O?Connor?chronicled the emotional land mines, where O?Connor made one very poignant point: ???It?s a dozen soap operas playing at the same time on a dozen different screens, and you are the star of them all,? O?Connor continues. ?It?s both as thrilling and as sickening as it sounds.?

You may be very surprised to find that there are ?programs? and ?platforms? being made available to diminish the possibility of a ?never-ending? relationship. ?Snapchat promises to help prevent digital trails, while MuteTweet and Ex-Blocker wipe your ex out of your timeline; KillSwitch walks right in to delete any photos, videos and posts referencing that ?ex.? ?The whole thing reminds me of a Michel Gondry film (2004) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. ?If you recall the couple is so devastated by the end of the relationship they are driven to erase all memories, one of the other.??

Is online dating really all that grand? ?Is is possible we could make the break just by talking ? leave all the messy elements off the internet and spare ourselves of all those painful reminders? With or without technology, relationships become confusing, painful, emotionally consuming and difficult to leave in the past. It may well be your own attitude and choices about moving forward that make the landscape in YOUR Dating Pond more appealing.
