Tim Collins Named to Team USA for World Baseball Classic

Our diminutive hard-throwing lefty-reliever will stand tall on the world stage wearing red, white and blue.

Royals left-handed reliever Tim Collins has been named to Team USA for the World Baseball Classic that will begin on March, with the Championship game in San Francisco on March 19. Collins joins a vaunted Team USA roster that includes names like Joe Mauer, Ryan Braun, and Giancarlo Stanton. On the other hand, it also includes names like Steve Cishek, Jeremy Affledt, and Willie Bloomquist.

Among the Royals teammates Collins will go up against are Bruce Chen (China) and Luis Mendoza (Mexico). Past Royals and Royals minor leaguers to participate in the WBC include:

Japan is the two-time reigning champion of the WBC, while the United States has failed to medal in the two competitions thus far.
