AAPD Co-sponsors Association for Computing Machinery 21st Annual Computers Freedom and Privacy Conference ?The Future is Now?? ?
People with disabilities are invited to attend this conference which focuses on the information society and the future of technology, innovation, and freedom. The conference looks at:
--The role of social media in the democracy movement in the Middle East and North Africa
--Technology and social media to support human rights (e.g., there is no freedom online for people with disabilities without accessibility and usability)
--The impact of mobile personal computing technology on freedom and privacy
--Smart grid, e-health records, consumer location-based advertising, cybersecurity, cloud computing, net neutrality, federated ID, and ubiquitous surveillance.
The conference program includes a presentation by the disability advocacy group, the Coalition of Organizations for Accessible Technology (COAT), linking the enactment of the 21st Communications & Video Accessibility Act of 2010 to the conference themes of freedom and democracy at the conference. ?AAPD is a non-profit corporate sponsor of the event and encourages people with disabilities to attend, to ensure that disability is part of every discussion. The conference attracts a diverse group of people, including many international participants.
